I tried Helping because of a post I saw online. Firstly, about the company.

It looks user friendly, but once you are on it, it isn't. If you run into issues, you can only depend on sending an email which may not may not get a response. I was first assigned a cleaner but after 2 sessions, I was notified that she had left the platform. I then waited 2 weeks before I was assigned another cleaner, this time a male cleaner.

I emailed Helping that I would like a female cleaner as my wife is generally alone at home the whole time of the cleaning sessions. I emailed twice with no response. Finally, it was the cleaner that whatsapped me and tried to confirm the appointment that I told him about my request. He cancelled all the appointments thereafter and I waited another week before being assigned another cleaner.

Till date, I have not heard back from Helpling regarding the request of changing to a female cleaner. The female cleaner that I was assigned came and after 2 cleaning and 2 missed cleaning sessions, I decided it was time to end the relationship with Helpling. Going to their website, I realised that even though I signed up for a 3-month contract, they have made future bookings all the way to Sep 2018 for my account. That was 12 months, considering that I started in Oct 2018.

Then there is no easy way to cancel the appointments, I had to Cancel each booking one booking by one. Now for the cleaners. The first cleaner was an Indian national whom did not speak English very well. We could barely communicate.

Her cleaning was through even if she worked slowly. She was with us for 2 sessions. The second female cleaner that was assigned to us was Siti Zarifah Saad. The first time she was due to come on Sunday morning at 10am.

I got a message at 9.15am in the morning saying she was unwell and could not come. We scheduled for the following week. She came timely the following week. We requested for her to vacumn the floor, mop the floor, clean our 3 toilets.

Also to wipe down the surfaces of the kitchen, the living room and our rooms. We stay in a 3 bedroom apartment with 1,500sqft of space. She completed everything within 2 hours and requested to leave, saying she will amend the session to 2 hours as we had requested for 4 hours. Everything was very very poorly done and very rushed.

She mopped the house with a single bucket of water (no change), did not clean the balconies, and simply had a shoddy attitude. Helpling did not amend the clean session to 2 hours after another round of emails sent to them with NO response. The next week came and in the morning of Sunday I received a text from Siti at 9.30am saying that she is stuck in the previous client's house as the client decided to leave for the office and leave her 2 children at home while she had to babysit. She requested to change the clean session to 2pm (from 10am).

I agreed. At 2pm, she texted me saying she is still stuck at the previous client's house as they didn't come home and she has to cancel today's session. I did not think her excuses were reasonable nor was it acceptable to have an appointment cancelled twice in the same day. My wife wanted to give her the benefit of doubt.

I texted Siti again about the previous session where I was charged for 4 hours even though she only worked for 2. She said she would inform Helping. It was only now that I got an email from Helpling. They said they could not refund my charges but would provide me with a $40 voucher for the next session.

This was the sort of company Helping is. They DO NOT reply to their customer's emails, and do not provide any form of assistance. There is simply no way to get in touch with anyone with Helpling if the customer required any assistance. Siti came this week.

I requested that she pay more attention to the tasks given and to take her time and spend more time at the 3 toilets. This time she need not even vacumn the floor as we got a Robot vacumn cleaner to do it. She mopped the house (with one bucket of water), including the balconies, washed all 3 toilets (more like splashed them with water), wiped down all the surfaces, in 1hour 45mins. Spent the next 45 mins ironing my clothes.

I then requested for her to wipe down the light switches as they were looking dusty. So she filled a small pail walked the house with the pail and cloth, and wiped the switches in about 5mins. It was unreasonably fast. She simply could not care enough about her work.

She finished in 3 hours. I asked her to leave. The camel's back was broken. And, this time, she did not suggest to ask Helpling to amend the clean session to 3 hours.

I did not bother with emailing Helpling. If you're wondering why, read above.

I write this in hope someone who's looking for a review before trying Helpling and share my experience without having to try it. I would not wish it upon anyone.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.
